George Wilson has brought a special spark of creativity to our area. If something
involving community betterment is going on expect to see him there--and
especially if it involves the arts.
“Born in Toronto in 1971, the major influences in my life
were my parents, natives of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Their history in these most scenic of
Provinces inspired me to paint many east coast scenes. Starting at the age of 40 in Exeter
Ontario I became a self-taught folk artist. I love to use bright colors to express my outlook on life.”
George was a major part of the team which created the ceramic
poppies for the art installation in Goderich this past summer.
George sells his art in Ottawa, Toronto, London, St. Jacob's and Aberfoyle. He attends many antique and folk art events. In Exeter, George's art is available at Willow Valley on Main Street. Opening soon will be a little shop on Main Street where George has a workshop. In the meantime, you can reach him at 226 374-2734.
He will be working on a painting during the ‘All Things
Bright and Beautiful’ fundraising event on August 16 for Jessica’s House. Come watch, enjoy and chat with George.
